Our Planet
Climate change is among the most challenging issues facing the international
community, the business world and individual citizens. Many believe industry
is a major contributor to increased greenhouse gas emissions and climate
change. Responding to the challenge demands a global effort and immediate
action.
Our Pledge
Global institutions
and industries are leading the fight against climate change by launching
programs that encourage environmentally friendly business practices. The
legal community, too, is taking action.
As an international law firm, Brown Rudnick pledges to do its part. On Earth
Day 2008, we kicked off our own eco-focused program by becoming a signatory
of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s (“MBA”) Lawyers Eco-Challenge.
Launched in January 2008, the Lawyers Eco-Challenge is a collaborative
initiative between the MBA and the Conservation Law Foundation encouraging
the legal community to conserve energy and resources.
By signing the Lawyers Eco-Challenge, we are pledging to help combat global
warming through greener business operations. To the extent possible, we plan
to apply the MBA’s recommended green practices to our other offices in
Hartford, CT; Providence, RI; New York; Washington D.C. and London. We
continue to explore ways that encourage firm-wide green thinking.
Our Energy
Focus
Brown Rudnick has
been focused on climate change issues since 2005, when the Firm established
its
Renewable Energy Group. This team of lawyers and government relations
professionals assists clients with matters related to renewable energy
project development and finance, emissions reduction schemes and alternative
energy sources. Extending our activity in this field, we launched our
Cleantech Team to address the full spectrum of legal issues and business
opportunities in the emerging clean technology sector.
Brown Rudnick is pleased to be an early adopter of green practices among law
firms. By implementing an internal program focused on energy conservation
and resource preservation, we are reinforcing our commitment to our clients,
the energy sector, and the greater community to address the challenges of
climate change.
We hope you will join us.
